What am I currently reading?

I am currently reading Flight of Magpies, the third and final book in the A Charm of Magpies series by K.J. Charles. According to Goodreads, I’ve technically been reading this one for awhile. I started it, but then other things caught my interest so I haven’t picked it back up in a few weeks. I’m loaning the ebook from the library and I keep having to renew it. I’m hoping to get back in the mood for this one soon so I can complete the series. I really enjoyed the first two books, so I don’t know why this one’s taking me forever. Although, I feel like I have that problem a lot with the final books in the series. Speaking of which, I’m also reading the thirteenth and final book in The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, The Witch With No Name. As I mentioned yesterday in my TT post, I started this book back in April and, once again, other things caught my interest so I put it down. Recently I’ve been in the mood again, so I’m hoping to actually complete it this time. My mind must really not like it when series are about to come to an end…^^;

What did I recently finish reading?

I finished up Dirty Martini by J.A. Konrath, the fourth book in the Jack Daniels series. I’m still really enjoying this suspenseful series and will steadily keep plugging away at it. I also read a few M/M books by A.J. Thomas, including Sex & Sourdough, a standalone novel, and A Casual Weekend Thing, the first in the Least Likely Partnership series.  Both were four star ratings for me, and I’ll eventually get around to reading the other two books in the LLP series. I read another M/M book as well, Up For The Challenge, a standalone novel by Riley Hart and Devon McCormack. I really enjoyed the 7946475characters in that one! It was a great read and I actually gave it a five star rating. And guess what? I read a few more M/M books. It seems I’ve been really digging this genre for the past year or so. I read the first book in the Bounty series  by Christine d’Abo, No Quarter. Another book with two great MC’s. Their banter is hysterical and the author’s world-building was great! Aren’t we supposed to be living in space by now too? I also read the second book, No Remedy. This one was centered around some of the characters introduced in the first book. It was a little different because it was a love triangle, but where no one was left out (if you know what I mean ;D). I don’t normally read menage stories, but again, I really enjoyed the first book so I gave this one a go. Not as good as the first, in my opinion, but still a great addition! It answers some of the questions that the reader has at the end of the first book as well, which was nice. I’m planning on reading the third book at some point.

What do I think I’ll read next?

14061957I keep saying I’m going to read the third and final book in the Grisha trilogy, Ruin and Rising, by Leigh Bardugo, but will I ever actually get around to it? WHO KNOWS? I ranted a bit in one of my Bookish Challenge posts about how I was trying to get the ebook for this one and there’s none actually available (as in my library doesn’t carry the ebook anymore, I guess?), so I’ll have to go check out the physical copy when I get some time. I have a feeling it might just sit on my nightstand for weeks like it did the first time. Once again, the end of a series is playing with my mind. I’m also planning on continuing the Jack Daniels series. And read more M/M.

I stated in my TT post yesterday that I would be starting the second book in the A Charm of Magpies series by K.J. Charles, A Case of Possession. I adore the main two characters, Stephen and Lucien – their banter is fantastic. The setting is in England. I’m not entirely sure about the timeline, it never really says, but I’m guessing somewhere in the 1800s. There’s definitely no cars or anything. The plots for the first book and this one, so far, are interesting and keeps me from putting the book down! If you’re looking for an M/M historical fantasy, check it out.

What did I recently finish reading?

17705713I finished up the third book in the Jack Daniels mystery series by J.A. Konrath, Rusty Nail. This was another thrilling installment to this series and I can’t wait to read more. I’m hoping to start the fourth book soon. I also completed reading the first in the Wolves of Hunter’s Rock series by Shelley Grayson, Shift. This was another good read. I enjoyed all of the characters and Grayson’s world-building. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the second book, whenever that happens to be coming out. I also stumbled upon another M/M series (shocking, I know) that reminded me quite a bit of C. S. Pacat’s Captive Prince trilogy. However, this series had 33014686significantly less sexual themes than Pacat’s. The series I am talking about is the Iron Breaker’s trilogy by Zaya Feli. The first book being Stag’s Run. I read all three of the books in a short amount of time because I simply couldn’t put them down. I loved both main characters, Ren and Anik, as well as supporting one’s. Although Ren’s a bit bratty he grows on you and his character definitely develops throughout the series. Just a warning, this contains a slow-burning romance. Nothing romantic actually happens until the end of the second book. But, for me, it just made the future moments Ren and Anik shared all the more sweeter. Also, I LOVE the cover art for all three books!

What do I think I’ll read next?

14061957I’ll be continuing the Grisha trilogy with the third and final book, Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. I really need to start this book, but I just haven’t been reading physical copies as much recently. I’ve been on an e-book binge. But I’ll try to start it soon, especially because I’m running out of renew’s on my library website…xD

What am I currently reading?

34624407I am currently reading the third book in the Jack Daniels mystery series by J.A. Konrath, Rusty Nail. I mentioned yesterday in my TT post that I’m really enjoying this series so far. I like the main character a lot and I also enjoy that the POV switches between Jack and the killer – it’s been like that for each book so far. It actually kind of reminds me of the TV show Criminal Minds, because that show also likes to focus on the audience already knowing who the killer is before the main cast does. I find it slightly ironic that I think that, however, because there are two FBI profiler’s in this book but they’re…not all that bright, honestly. I definitely recommend this series for those seeking a thriller, though a warning, some descriptions can get rather graphic. I also picked up another M/M romance book, the first in the Wolves of Hunter’s Rock series by Shelley Grayson, Shift. I’m about halfway down with it and so far it’s an enjoyable read. It has fun characters and an interesting plot, although at the moment there are still a lot of unanswered questions, so I hope at least the majority of them get resolved by the end of the book.

What did I recently finish reading?

14061955I finally finished the second book in the Grisha trilogy, Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. It took me quite a while to wrap this one up. It’s not that it wasn’t good, other things just kept coming up. Also, I read my physical books at my second job and because that job is no more, I was reading my ebooks more often. That was a big part of it. This was a good second book to the series, but I did enjoy the first one a bit more. However, one of the characters introduced in this book quickly became one of my favorites. For those who have read this series, I’m sure you’re more than likely aware of who I am talking about. Who doesn’t like him? xD I 32716989also finally got around to reading the eighth book in the THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet, Thick & Thin. This one was sitting in my carousel on my Kindle app for quite some time. I don’t know why it took me so long to get to it. I think it’s because I only have one more book until I’m caught up in the series and I don’t want to have to keep waiting for the next one, honestly. It was such a short installment, too! I need to go buy the ninth one, pronto. Above I stated that I’m reading the third book in the Jack Daniels mystery series and so obviously I read the first two in the series before I got to that one. Those would be Whiskey Sour and Bloody Mary. Once again, I’m really enjoying this series and cannot wait to keep plugging away at it.

What do I think I’ll read next?

14061957This section is STILL the same as it was in my last WWW post…and the one before that. I’ll be continuing the Grisha trilogy with the third and final book, Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. Hopefully I’ll get around to reading that one a little quicker than I did the second one. I’ll probably also keep picking up random M/M books because that’s still what my mood has been recently.

24163590As I stated yesterday in my TT post, I’m still working through the second book in the Grisha trilogy, Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. I’ll try to read this one more next week! I also started reading The Artifact by J.E. Lorin. I mentioned this author in my last WWW post. Lorin has only published three books, but I’ve enjoyed each and every one! Or, at least I’m enjoying The Artifact so far. Lorin’s world-building is awesome and the characters enjoyable. I’ll definitely be keeping a lookout for more by this author in the future! I’m reading another MxM book as well. This one is called The Soldati Prince by Charlie Cochet. If you’ve been reading my TT or WWW posts for a little while you may have noticed I’ve mentioned the THIRDS series by Cochet a few times. I fell in love with the THIRDS books, but this other series by her has been…meh. I’m just not enjoying it as much as the THIRDS. I may still give the second book a try though. It comes out later this year. So we’ll see.

What did I recently finish reading?

30370036A Destiny of Dragons by T.J. Klune, the second book in the Tales From Verania series. This book FINALLY came out and I was so excited!!! I absolutely LOVED the first one, so I impatiently waited for the sequel. And it definitely did not disappoint. Granted, I still enjoyed the first one a bit more, but the second one had the same amount of humor, and we were introduced to some new characters as well. Plus, more plot! The first book was merely the beginning. In the second a larger plot began to unfold, which will most likely be concluded in the next, and last, two books. Since I believe Klune said there was only 23308087going to be four. But yes, I will now be impatiently waiting for the third book. If you’re looking for a hilarious fantasy MxM romance, give the first book a try! I also finished up reading Flame in the Mist by Renée Ahdieh, the first book in the Flame in the Mist series. This was a fantastic read and I definitely recommend it! My review on this one can be found here. I’ve mentioned before, but I’ve been trying to stick to completed series, with the exception of a few. But this one just sounded so good, and I absolutely love Mulan (which this series is loosely based off) so I couldn’t wait to read it. I’ll also32053864 be impatiently waiting for the sequel to this series as well. I found another MxM author that I enjoy too. I read Leo Loves Aries by Anyta Sunday, the first in the Signs of Love series. This was an adorable book with some funny characters and a fun plot. I’ve read a few more by the same author and, once again, I am looking forward to the next one in this series.

What do I think I’ll read next?

14061957This section is pretty much the same as it was in my last WWW post. I’ll be continuing the Grisha trilogy with the third and final book, Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. I’ll probably also keep picking up random MxM books because that’s what my mood has been recently.

6782412So, for now I’ve decided to put the thirteenth and final book in The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, The Witch With No Name, on a hiatus. For some reason I’m just really not feeling it. I have no idea why. I’ve never had a problem with getting through any of the books in this series, but for whatever reason, my brain is just like no. I’ll try my best to get back to it soon. Otherwise I’ll forget everything…^^; Meanwhile, last night I started the second book in the Grisha trilogy, Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. This one just jumped right into the action and I’m loving it! Will read more tonight. I’m also reading another MxM romance, Warrior’s Cross by Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux.

What did I recently finish reading?

34447556I finished up both the second book in the Beautiful Monsters series, Sire, as well as the third, Broken. I stated last time that I fell quickly for this series and things haven’t changed. The fourth book doesn’t come out until sometime next year but I need it NOW NOW NOW. I don’t wanna wait…*pouts*. But I think the author is coming up with another series that’s based in the same universe and I believe that one comes out later this year. So I’m hoping that one will be just as good and will 10194157sate me until the fourth book releases. We shall see. I also finished up the first book in the Grisha trilogy, Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I really enjoyed the first book and now I understand what all the hype was about. I love the world-building. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Alina at first, but overall I liked her as a character. She’s better than quite a few other female protagonists in YA novels. I’m already engrossed in the 33949887second book so I’ll probably be finishing up the series in the near future. I finished reading a new young adult MxM book that just came out in March as well, Noah’s Song by Jaclyn Osborn. This was a cute, quick read. It reminded me a lot of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Although this one had a twist where one of the main characters had a disability. I definitely got the feelings when reading this one. I also 30216256stumbled upon another MxM author and read two of their books, Peril and The Finder. I enjoyed both books and am planning on reading the authors third book as well, which is actually the first book they wrote. I liked Peril a little better than The Finder, but both had intriguing plots and entertaining characters.

What do I think I’ll read next?

14061957Next up, I’ll be continuing the Grisha trilogy with the third and final book, Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. I’ll probably also keep picking up random MxM books because that’s what my mood has been recently. Once again, I’m hoping to get back into The Witch With No Name as well.

I’m still plugging away at the thirteenth and final book in The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, The Witch With No Name. I’m not sure why this one is taking me so long to get through. I think my subconscious really doesn’t want this series to end. But I’ll get there, eventually. I also finally hopped on The Grisha bandwagon with the first book, Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I just started it last night and I’m already halfway through. I’m really enjoying it and so far it’s definitely living up to all the hype. Can’t wait to keep on reading.

What did I recently finish reading?

23594461I’ve finished a few books since my last WWW post. I’ve definitely been in a MxM romance kind of mood, because all of the books I have finished recently fall into that category. I finished up The King’s Men by Nora Sakavic, the third and final book in the All for the Game series. This one was in my ‘currently reading’ spot last time. This was a fantastic series and by the end of it I was emotionally drained. There was so much depth to all of the characters. I’ve never been a big sports fan, but the way Sakavic writes has you feeling as if you’re one of the team and aching for the Foxes to win, win, win. And it’s not all about the sport. Many of the characters have a troubled past and just being along for the ride as they 7016638struggle with their own issues makes you emotionally invested fast. The romance bit comes a little later on. It’s not really a part of the plot until the third book, and even then it doesn’t play a large role in the series, but it definitely gave me the feels when it finally happened. Another book I completed was Shades of Gray by Brooke McKinley. This was a good, fairly quick read. I enjoyed both of the main characters, even if some of the things they did irritated me at times. There is definitely more fluff and feelings in this one, compared to the series mentioned above. This book also played with my emotions quite a bit, having me 30830592never know if things were really going to work out in the end or not. I also read  Captive by Jex Lane, the first book in the Beautiful Monsters series. I mentioned this one in my TT post yesterday. Like I said, I quickly fell in love with this series. This book centers around the ongoing war between vampires and incubi. Sure, vampires are a rather common topic, but I’ve hardly read anything that really focuses on incubi, which was one of the reasons this book drew my attention. Lane’s world-building is amazing and it’s hard not to fall for her characters. I adore Matthew, the main character. The action is fast-paced and bloody, the sex scenes are steamy, and the humor is spot on. I’ll remind people that this book is intended for mature audiences so steer clear if you’re not okay with strong violence and detailed sex scenes. But if you are, I highly recommend this series!

What do I think I’ll read next?

14061955After I finish Shadow and Bone, I’ll be continuing with the second book in the Grisha trilogy, Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. I pointed out in my last WWW post that I’d also like to keep plugging away at re-reading The Dresden Files. And the eighth book in the THIRDS series is still sitting in my Kindle App waiting to be read.

As I mentioned yesterday in my TT post, I have finally started  the thirteenth and final book in The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, The Witch With No Name. I also mentioned that it’s been a bit slow going. I get distracted so easily. But I’ll get there! One of the reasons I’ve been distracted is because of the second book I’m currently reading, The King’s Men by Nora Sakavic, the third and final book in the All for the Game series. I’ve been zooming through these books and am excited to see how it all wraps up at the end.

What did I recently finish reading?

21569527So, I’ve read quite a few books since my last WWW post. Because of this I won’t be posting all of the pictures, like I usually do, because…there would be just too many. And I’m lazy. But I did finish the third book in The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, Grave Peril. I also finished the third and final book in the Playing The Fools series by Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock, Tempest. Emmy, my other friend, and I finished up  The Heart of Betra26075798yal by Mary E. Pearson, the second book in The Remnant Chronicles. I enjoyed this installment even more than I did the
first one. We’re going to buddy read the third book as well, I’m just not too sure when yet. Another book I finished is the seventh book in the THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet, Smo17378527ke & Mirrors. This is definitely one of my favorite MxM series and I can’t wait to read the eighth one! I also finally finished up The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater with the fourth and final book, The Raven KingI enjoyed the ending and felt like it wrapped up the overall plot fairly nicely. The last two books I also read were the first two books in the All for the Game series I mentioned in the above section. Those would be the first book, The Foxhole Court, and (funnily enough) the second book, The Raven King.

What do I think I’ll read next?

10194157Next up I think I’m going to start reading Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, the first in The Grisha trilogy. I stated that this was one of the series I would like to get around to reading this year, so that’s incentive, right? Plus I’m definitely in the mood for it. Whenever I think about what I want to read next it’s always in the front of my mind. I’d also like to keep plugging away at re-reading The Dresden Files as well. And the eighth book in the THIRDS series is also sitting in my Kindle App waiting to be read…xD

This spot will look very similar to last week. Almost the same. I’m still reading  the sixth book in the THIRDS series, Catch a Tiger by the Tail by Charlie Cochet, as well as The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson, the second book in The Remnant Chronicles. However, I have moved on to the third book in The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, Grave Peril. I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to re-read this series. There are fifteen books currently out…so that probably has something to do with it. And I have so many other books I need to read. But this series, man. I can’t get enough of it. Have I mentioned you should go read it? Because you should. Seriously. Go. Right now.

What did I recently finish reading?

91477I recently finished reading the second book in The Dresden
Files series by Jim Butcher, Fool Moon. I decided to re-read this series and I’m just plowing through. Not really much else so say. Just that the sixteenth one needs to come out. Like right now. Please…?

What do I think I’ll read next?

17378527I STILL STILL STILL plan on starting the thirteenth and final book in The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, The Witch With No Name. I probably should have started it before I planned on re-reading The Dresden Files, because now I’m so absorbed in that series, but oh well. No going back. I’m going to read it though. I am. I also still plan on starting The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater, the fourth and final book in The Raven Cycle series. I really need to read this one soon. Mostly because it’s a library book and I’ll have to eventually return it. But also because I want to, of course.

What am I currently reading?

I am currently reading three books. THREE! Lately I’ve only been reading two at a time, if that. I don’t remember the last time I was actually reading three at the same time. I’m sure there’s a bunch of people out there that read a bundle of books at once, but I’m just not usually one of them. It took me forever just to start reading two at a time. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but I usually tend to lean towards one over the other, being a mood reader and all. And sometimes that leads me to taking forever to finish one of the books. But I’ve been a bit better about that lately. Anyway, enough rambling! I’m currently reading  the sixth book in the THIRDS series, Catch a Tiger by the Tail by Charlie Cochet. I’ve said many times before that I fell in love with this series and I’m saying it21569527 again! It’s action-packed and full of humor! And it definitely has its share of steamy moments too. This is the second book in the series to stray away from Dex and Sloane’s POV and I’m thoroughly enjoying it (not saying I don’t love Sloane and Dex, but it’s nice getting to know their teammates better). I’m also reading The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson, the second book in The Remnant Chronicles. I buddy read the first one with Emmy and another friend and now we’re on to the second! So far so good. I’m very interested in seeing where this installment takes the main plot of the series. The third book I’m currently reading is the second book in The Dresden91477 Files series by Jim Butcher, Fool Moon. If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time I’m sure you’ve heard me mention this series a time or two…or two-hundred. But seriously, it’s one of my favorites! And I recently decided I wanted to re-read it. I’ve been impatiently waiting for the sixteenth book to come out and it’s still not out yet so I thought I’d satisfy my hunger with a re-read. I found this series…maybe 5+ years ago? And I’ve never re-read it so I thought now was a good time. Plus it also may have had to do with me scrolling through fan art and quotes on Pinterest recently…xD I can’t recommend this series enough. GO. READ. IT. NOW.

What did I recently finish reading?

17378508I recently finished reading the third book in The Raven Cycle series, Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater. I stated in my last book tag that I can’t wait to find out what happens in the fourth and final installment of this series! And that’s still true! I just haven’t gotten around to starting it yet. But I will soon. I’m borrowing it from the library and there’s only so many times I can renew it before having to physically return it. So yeah, I’ll definitely get on that in the near future. I also finished reading the second book in the Playing the Fool series 22439652by Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock, The Merchant of Death. This was another quick, enjoyable read and I got to know even more about the main characters as well as some new ones that were talked about, but didn’t actually appear, in the first one. I’ll be reading the third and final book shortly. As I stated above, I began re-reading one of my favorite series, so I recently finished the first in The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, Storm Front. Since I rambled on a bit earlier I won’t say anything more about it. Except…go read it! xD

What do I think I’ll read next?

17378527I STILL plan on starting the thirteenth and final book in The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, The Witch With No Name. I think this one has been in the last few WWW posts I’ve done, but as you may have guessed because it’s still in this section, I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. EVENTUALLY! I also plan on starting The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater, the fourth and final book in The Raven Cycle series. Oh look at that; both are the final books in the series. But I’ll most likely get to The Raven King before The Witch With No Name, probably due to the fact that I’m borrowing one and own the other. Now that I think about it that’s also probably part of the reason it’s taking me forever to finish up The Hollows series…^^;

I am currently reading the third book in The Raven Cycle series, Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater. I started it last week but it’s been a bit slow going since then. Mostly because I decided to pick the THIRDS series back up and that absorbed most of my attention. That’s always been my problem with reading multiple books at a time. Sometimes one of them just strikes my fancy more than the other at that particular time. But I’ll get back to it next week.

What did I recently finish reading?

17347389I recently finished reading the second book in The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater, The Dream Thieves. I definitely liked this one better than the first one. I think I mentioned that in my last WWW post and it’s still true. I adore Ronan and this one focused on him a lot more than the first so, yeah. That’s probably why. I can’t wait to see how things tu16429619rn out with what happened to him in this one! I also finished reading The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson, the first book in The Remnant Chronicles. I saw this on Emmy’s list of books she’d like to read this year and happily suggested a buddy read. I’ve never done one before but it sounded like fun! So her and I, along with another of my friends, all read the book in a manner of two weeks. A little less, actually. Quite a lot of tropes in this book but I thought it was well done overall. I enjoyed the characters and the plo22714912t. It was a good, fun, quick read. We’re planning on reading the second one together as well once we all get our hands on it. As stated above, I also jumped back into the THIRDS series with the fifth book, Against the Grainby Charlie Cochet. I took a slight break from this series because the library has every book except this one. But I am really enjoying these books so I bought the e-book off of Amazon. I wasn’t disappointed. This was the first one to drift away from Dex and Sloane’s POV. Now I am (kinda) patiently waiting for the sixth book to become22439645 available. While waiting for the sixth book, I was in the mood to begin another MxM Romance and happened to stumble upon the Playing the Fool series by Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock. I speedily read through the first book, The Two Gentlemen from Altona. Another quick, fun read filled with humor and enjoyable characters. There are two more books in this series so I’ll probably be zipping through those as well.

What do I think I’ll read next?

22714914I’m still planning on starting the thirteenth and final book in The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, The Witch With No Name. I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Did I mention that I’m a huge procrastinator when it comes to the end of a series? Same thing when I watch anime. It takes me forever to watch that last episode. I don’t like endings! D; I also plan on starting the sixth book in the THIRDS series, Catch a Tiger by the Tail by Charlie Cochet. Still waiting for it to be available at the library.

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of the books above? Let me know in the comments!

Happy reading! :)
