Blogger Aesthetic Award

Hey there! I was nominated by Emily @ Embuhlee liest for this award. Thanks Emmy!

The Rules:

  • Collect any number of images that you feel represent you as a person—your personality, aspirations, favourite things, anything at all that makes you you.
  • Put your chosen images together into a collage of whatever size and shape you find pleasing.
  • Share your masterpiece with everyone, in all the places.
  • Maybe nominate other bloggers as a way to tell them, “Hey, you, I think you’re awesome, and we should celebrate that awesomeness.”
  • Share these rules (and maybe the below tips, if you’re feeling helpful).

Tips:

My Aesthetic:

I couldn’t fit all of my pictures into one collage, so they’re separated into two. One’s a bit more ‘serious’ and one’s a bit more ‘nerdy’.

I Nominate:

As usual, if you’ve already been nominated and don’t wish to post again, or just don’t want to participate, that’s perfectly fine, of course! :)

One Lovely Blog Award

one-lovely-blog-award

A huge thanks to Aetheristrux @ The Amazing Life of a Bookworm and Lyn @ Just Something About LynLyn for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award! They did so awhile ago and, as usual, it’s taken me some time to finally getting around to making a post. Please give their own lovely blogs a look! :)

Rules:

  • You must thank person who nominated you and include a link to their blog
  • You must list the rules and display the award
  • You must add 7 facts about yourself
  • You must nominate 15 other bloggers

7 Facts About Me:

  1. I started drinking coffee about two years ago. Before that I thought it was the most disgusting thing ever. True, I put tons of crap in mine (I would never drink it black), but it still counts as coffee. I don’t drink it everyday, but iced coffee is now one of my favorite drinks. Even in the winter.
  2. I was a nail biter. I stopped about a year and a half ago. One summer I slapped on some fake nails and for the most part it worked. However, if I don’t keep them painted I do find myself wanting to gnaw on them still…^^; So I usually keep them painted.
  3. If there was one type of food that I could eat for the rest of my life it would be Asian food. Not necessarily a specific type of Asian food, though.
  4. My favorite game console is the GameCube.
  5. I love saving money. I think I’m fairly good about not buying things that I don’t need. My friends aren’t the best influences  – at least when it comes to buying comics xD – but otherwise I usually know when to draw the line. What can I say? I may be on the cheap side, but I like having money in the bank.
  6. In one of the my other award posts, I had put as a fact that I had never seen Star Wars. Well, since then I have seen the fourth and fifth movie. I’m planning on watching the rest in the near future.
  7. I’m sure a ton of people feel the same way, but I wish I could get paid to just read whatever books I want to read as well as binge watch TV shows and anime. That would be the life right there.

My Nominees:

And that’s about it. There’s more I would like to nominate, but a good chunk of people have already been nominated so…yeah. As usual, to anyone who is reading this, if you haven’t been nominated before and would like to participate I nominate you! So go make a post! Right now! GO!

Blogger Recognition Reward…With Something Extra

Blogger Recognition AwardI was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award by Emily @ Embulee liest and Jess @ Life: Books, The Arts. and Nature. Two different people! I feel so loved… xD

The rules for this award are as follows:

  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to. Do some digging if you must! Find those blogs. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you.
  • Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you’ve nominated in the post.
  • Make sure to also attach the award itself! (You can do this by right-clicking, saving, and uploading the image above).
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you’ve nominated them. Provide a link to the award post you created.
  • Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night. That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing! (It happens LOL).

How My Blog Was Born:

There’s really not much of a story here, unfortunately. My good friend Emily, one of the lovely people who nominated me for this award, began her own blog and I happened to find out about it soon after. I enjoy Emmy’s ramblings and told her so. She proceeded to pester me about creating my own blog but I wasn’t sure. As many of the people who follow me know, I’m a major procrastinator, so I didn’t think keeping up a blog was my kind of thing (honestly, I’m a bit surprised I’ve stuck with it as long as I have). But reading has always been a passion of mine and I thought what the heck, why not? I wouldn’t mind reading about people, besides Emily, ramble on about books. And I’m fairly good at rambling myself. So, after a good deal of peer pressure from Emmy, I began my blog. I don’t post as often as I would like, but I greatly enjoy reading the posts of others. I hope to be a part of the blogging community for a good while longer.

My Advice:

Honestly, I’m not all that great at giving advice. Or, at least I don’t think I am. I would much rather prefer simply listening to people than giving them feedback. But I’ll give it a whirl. My advice it to just be yourself. Don’t worry about the number of likes or followers you have. Do your own thing. As long as you’re happy with it, who cares what other people think? Sure, blogging is as much about interacting with others as it is posting your thoughts on certain subjects, but if you’re not posting what you want to post then what’s the point? Plus, everyone I’ve interacted with on here is so incredibly nice, so if you’re afraid of what others will have to say about your thoughts…don’t be. I feel like this is what a lot of people are saying, but it’s freakin’ great advice. So listen to it.

Nominations:

Guess what? I don’t have any. My laziness is kicking in, plus I feel like a lot of people have already been nominated for this award, so I’m not picking anyone specific. If you’re reading this right now and haven’t been nominated, I nominate you. If you want a chance to tell your story and give your own bit of advice, then do it! I hereby give you permission to do so! Go my pretties, go! *maniacal laughter in the background* Eh hem…but yeah. That about wraps it up for this award.

Happy reading, all! :)

Also, this doesn’t have to do with the award at all, but I just found this through a friend on Facebook…I thought I would share it with you all. Some of you will get it…some of you won’t. But it’s fantastic.

Sunshine Blogger Award

sunshine-blogger

A huge thanks to Jess @ Life: Books, The Arts, and Nature for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! Please give her blog a look if you haven’t already. Once again I’ll mention that I’m a major procrastinator, since she nominated me almost a month ago, but I definitely wanted to make sure I got this post up because I am truly honored that she chose me as one of the people she gave this award to! It just took me awhile to complete. But anyway, enough of my rambling…

“The whole idea of the Sunshine Award is that you nominate eleven bloggers who put a little sunshine in your day, who are positive, creative, and inspiring.”

Rules:
– Answer the 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you.
– Nominate some wonderful bloggers and write 11 questions for them to answer.

Questions & Answers:

1. What is your favorite genre of books?
Fantasy. Definitely fantasy. I’ve come to find life on the boring side at times, so I enjoy reading about people, places, and events that you wouldn’t come across in everyday life.

2. What have you always wanted? Did you get it?
Well, when I was born my parents had a Basset Hound named Bruno, but when I was two-years-old they had to give him away because my older sister became allergic. So during my elementary years I always wanted a dog. Finally, when I was in the seventh grade, me and my sister started saving up to buy a dog that was hypoallergenic. Not long afterward, we brought a little Shih Tzu puppy home. He is now eleven years old and super spoiled. We also rescued a little Terrier mix about five years ago. She is also very spoiled. So yes, I did get what I’ve always wanted! :D

3. What is your greatest strength or weakness?
Gah, it sounds like I’m on a job interview… xD Hmmm, I would have to say my greatest strength is that I’m a fairly mellow person. I ‘go-with-the-flow’ and don’t tend to keep myself caught up on unimportant things. My sister is the opposite – she has some anxiety issues – so I’m thankful that I don’t over-think everything. As for my greatest weakness? I’d have to say my procrastination. I usually always get things done in the end, but I think it would help if I didn’t wait so long to do certain things.

4. If you could wake up tomorrow in someone else’s body, who would you pick and what would you do?
I would actually pick one of my dogs. I think it’d be a very interesting experience. Then I would be able to sleep on the couch all day and avoid doing things that I should be doing.

5. What are you craving right now?
A salad. A really good salad. I’ve been eating rather crappy this past week so something healthy sounds amazing.

6. Marvel or DC? If neither, tell why.
Marvel all the way. I mean, I love Batman and all, but Spider-Man is my favorite. Plus, I actually read Marvel comics. I haven’t strayed to the DC side…yet.

7. What is your favorite snack while reading?
None. I don’t really eat when I read.

8. Mountains or beaches?
I was just at the beach not too long ago. I’ve only been a few times in my life. I forgot how much I enjoyed it. But, I think I like the whole foresty-mountain scene just a bit more.

9. What are you currently reading? Do you enjoy it so far?
Unleashed by John Levitt, the third book in the Dog Days series. I’m only two chapters in, but yes, I am enjoying it so far.

10. What do you do in your free time?
Read, obviously, catch up on TV shows and anime, play video games, and hang out with friends. Nothing overly adventurous at the moment since I’m constantly at work.

11. Do you believe in ghosts?
Honestly, I’m not quite sure. I occasionally watch that sort of show on TV and I enjoy hearing about experiences from people I know, but I’ve never had my own ‘ghost sighting’ yet. I’m a fairly realistic person at heart, which is probably why I enjoy fantasy so much, so sometimes it’s hard for me to believe in that sort of thing. It’s more like I want to believe than actually believing.

My Nominee’s:

I tried to pick a few people that haven’t received this award. If I nominated you and you aren’t interested in participating that’s perfectly fine! :) If I didn’t nominate you feel free to still answer any of the questions below in the comments section so that I can read them.

Questions for My Nominee’s:

  1. What’s your favorite season of the year (ex. fall, winter) and why?
  2. If you happened to borrow Mr. Peabody’s Wabac (time-machine), what time period would you visit?
  3. Who is your favorite character in The Lion King? If you haven’t watched it, shame on you.
  4. Current favorite song?
  5. If you were forced to play a card game, and your life was the prize, which game would you prefer playing? (ex. poker, black jack, etc.)
  6. What is your favorite book series of all time?
  7. Do you enjoy camping?
  8. What’s your preferred type of weather?
  9. What’s the quickest time it has taken you to finish a book?
  10. Have you ever ridden a horse?
  11. How many books have you read this year so far?

The Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

A big thanks to Analee from Book Snacks for nominating me for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award! She is one of my favorite bloggers so please go check hers out if you haven’t already! :)

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger that nominated you and link their website.
  • Insert the award logo in your blog post.
  • Answer the ten questions that were provided by the nominator.
  • Nominate ten bloggers.
  • Create ten new questions for your nominees.

Questions from Analee:

1. What is your favorite book cover? Why?
Ermm….this is tough. I do like the Sookie Stackhouse series covers, because they’re fun and cartoon-ish looking. The Mortal Instruments are awesome-looking as well, but I used them in a different tag so I was trying to pick out something different.

2. What is your least favorite book you read this year?
Probably Blue is for Nightmares by Laurie Faria Stolaz. I just couldn’t get into it. The plot was…decent, but I couldn’t relate to any of the characters.

3. What makes you love a book?
The characters. I mean, of course I love a great plot, but if said great plot is lacking in amazing characters than it really just takes the joy out of the whole story. I generally get attached to characters pretty easily, so if I read a book where I’m not loving any of the characters it’s a bit of a turn-off.

4. Do you snack while reading? If so, what do you snack on?
Not normally. I usually read with both hands on the book so that limits my ‘snacking-while-reading’ ability. If I am eating something I’ll usually be watching TV instead.

5. What is the longest time you’ve gone without reading?
Hmmm, honestly I’m not sure. I’m usually always reading one book or another, even if it takes me awhile to complete it. I occasionally get into slumps when I’m more concerned with playing video games, hanging out with friends, or catching up on TV shows, but I can’t give an exact amount of time I’ve gone without reading.

6. What is your favorite film adaptation of a book?
The Hunger Games. I think they did a pretty awesome job with those movies.

7. What is the largest amount of money you have ever spent on books at one time?
Gah….how am I supposed to remember that??? xD Seriously, I have no idea.

8. Which books have you re-read many times?
The first couple of Harry Potter books. I’ve read the last few only a few times – actually I’ve only read the seventh one once – but that’s why I’m currently re-reading them!

9. Which book character would you want as your significant other? Why?
Ughhhh….hmmm….gahhhh….errrrg….can you tell I’m having trouble with this question? I’m going to have to say Harry Dresden from The Dresden Files series, by Jim Butcher. For those of you who have been reading my blog, I tend to mention this series a lot and there’s a reason for that. Harry Dresden is an AMAZING main character and I love him. But not in a creepy way…of course. But yeah, he’s so sarcastic and nerdy and amusing and you would never be bored around this man. He does have quite a bit of emotional baggage…but who doesn’t? So yeah. I pick him.

10. Which book character do you think is most like you? What character would you most like to be?
That’s cheating Analee! That’s two different questions in one! xD  I can’t really think of one that’s most like me…but the character I would most like to be would probably be Karrin Murphy, one of the other main characters in the Dresden Files series. She’s pretty much a bad-ass with a smart mouth and a unique sense of humor.

My Questions:

  1. What is one of the more embarrassing television shows you’ve watched? (Don’t be shy!)
  2. Who is your favorite ‘side-kick’ or ‘best friend’ in a book series? (ex. Ron Weasley)
  3. If you were in a book series and, unfortunately, didn’t make it till the end of the book, which book villain would you want to have helped you ‘kick the bucket’?
  4. Any exciting plans this summer?
  5. What is the best book you’ve read so far this year?
  6. If you were a part of the wizarding world of Harry Potter, what kind of wand would you have? (ex. holly and phoenix feather, eleven inches) (Here’s a link to help you out)
  7. Favorite flavor of gum?
  8. What’s the longest book you’ve ever read?
  9. Favorite classic Disney movie? (If you’ve never watched any, favorite childhood movie?)
  10. What is the newest book you’ve read and what are your thoughts on it?

My Nominees:

Soooo, pretty much anyone else I want to nominate has been nominated before. So I don’t want to make people do this post all over again. HOWEVER, if you’ve already been nominated, or even if you haven’t, please consider answering the questions I’ve chosen in a comment below! I would love to read them! <3

The Creative Blogger Award

Thank you so much Parneet from The Enchanted Book for nominating me for the Creative Blogger Award! Please give her blog a look! :)

The Rules:

  • Nominate 15-20 blogs and notify all nominees via their social media/blogs
  • Thank and post the link of the blog that nominated you (very important)
  • Share 5 facts about yourself to your readers
  • Tell the nominees these rules

5 Facts:

  1. I actually don’t like talking about myself and I’m sure I share this with many others. The facts I had to give in the posts of my other awards were actually hard to come up with. I’m not sure why I’m this way, but I prefer listening to others than talking most of the time. I find I’m the most animated when communicating through the computer and when I’m with people I’ve known for a long time.
  2. One of my favorite sweets is Twizzlers Cherry Pull-N-Peel Licorice. If I didn’t have any self-control I would wolf down an entire package in one go.
  3. When my mom took me to the shoe store as a child I always played with the metal thing used to measure your shoe size. Because of that, I had decided I wanted to measure people’s feet when I grew up. That was my first career choice. I was like, five, so don’t judge me too much…
  4. Recently I’ve been in the mood to attend weddings. My sister got engaged last month but they aren’t actually getting married for two more years. I’ve never been to one before, I’ve only been to funerals, sadly, so I just really want to go to a wedding.
  5.  Two of the things I would like to accomplish in my life include: seeing the Broadway musical of The Lion King and visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando.

I’m super lazy at the moment, so I’m going to bend the rules and nominate anyone who reads this post and would like to participate! You deserve it! :D

The Liebster Award

A big thanks to Katandkabookle for nominating me for the Liebster Award! Please go give her block a look! :) This is the second award I’ve received in two days, so I’m extremely happy, and a bit surprised, right now. Let’s just say I’m glad I decided to join the book blogging community! <3

Rules…

  • Thank the person/people who nominated you with a link to their blog
  • Give 11 random facts about yourself
  • Answer the 11 questions from the blogger/s who nominated you
  • Nominate 11 other blogs who have less than or equal to 3000 followers (this rule changes from blogger to blogger, but for the most part, I tried to stick to those who had under 300 followers)
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions

11 Random Facts About Me…

  1. Growing up, I was considered a tomboy. My style is more’girlish’ now, but most of the time you can still catch me being lazy around the house in basketball shorts and a big t-shirt. My mom still doesn’t like that I’ll occasionally wear that kind of attire out in public.
  2. Besides the Legend of Zelda games, my other two favorites are Halo and Assassin’s Creed.
  3. Inuyasha was the first anime I ever watched.
  4. I am a middle child.
  5. My friend and I have played through a good chunk of the Lego video games, and are absolutely horrible at them. Most of the time it’s because she’s busy blowing stuff up and I’m trying to find a lego animal to ride.
  6. I played the violin for two years back in elementary school.
  7. For one of my clay projects back in high school, I created a clay version of the Monster Book of Monsters from Harry Potter.
  8. The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie.
  9. I started reading comic books about two years ago. My wallet doesn’t love me anymore because of this, since the ones I read come out on a monthly basis (sometimes twice a month).
  10. I have two dogs, a Shih Tzu and a Terrier mix.
  11. I like background noise whenever I’m doing something, like cleaning the house or in the car, but when I read I need absolute peace and quiet.

Questions From Katandkabookle

1. What’s your biggest pet-peeve?
When it comes to books, I would say when a person returns one of my books dogeared. In general, when people are too clingy.

2. How long does it usually take you to finish a book?
It really depends on how long it is and how much I like it. If I’m really enjoying a book I can finish it in two or three days (one if it’s 300 pages or less), but otherwise it would probably take me a week. I have work and am usually catching up on TV shows or binge watching anime, so I’m not always reading in my spare time.

3. If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?
All ‘Bout That One Girl

4. What would you do if you won the lottery?
I would travel. Recently I’ve been in a very travel-y mood. Once I got my fill of traveling, however, I would settle down somewhere and open an animal shelter.

5. What is your least favorite book and why?
Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause, because I wasn’t able to connect with any of the characters.

6. Favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
Life of Pi. I think they did a really great job with the movie.

7. What book character is the most like you?
This is a tough one. Hmm…I honestly can’t think of anyone at the moment that I’m very similar with, but I’d like to think I have some things in common with Ginny Weasley.

8. Do you prefer hard-covers or paperbacks?
Paperbacks, because they’re cheaper. Also, I just like the feel of them more.

9. Do you like buying books, or borrowing them out?
Borrowing them. The library is my best friend. Unlike a lot of book lovers, I don’t feel the need to buy every book I read.

10. What was the last book you read?
Tiger’s Quest by Colleen Houck.

11. What is your favorite book cover and why?
I like all the covers to The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. They’re really well done and you get a glimpse of most of the characters.

7 Things About Myself:

1. I’ve never seen Star Wars. I’m ashamed, but I do plan on watching the movies sometime this year. Well, that’s my goal anyway…

2. I roleplayed on GaiaOnline for…quite a number of years. Beginning back in 2007 or 2008 I believe. That’s where I met some of my very close online friends. However, I haven’t been active for the past couple of years.

3. I love love LOVE dogs. I have ever since I was little. Whenever I saw one I would point and shout, “DOGGY!” I still do that occasionally…

4. Spider-Man is my all-time favorite comic book hero.

5. I think Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the greatest shows ever.

6. I buy a calendar every year. My current one is called ‘Hot Guys & Baby Animals’. I saw it in a store and was joking about it, then one of my guy friends actually bought it for me for Christmas. I display it proudly.

7. I’ve beaten three of The Legend of Zelda games, including: Twilight Princess, The Wind Waker, and A Link Between Worlds. I played Four Swords Adventures with some of my friends, but never beat it. I’m currently playing Ocarina of Time and I also recently bought Majora’s Mask.

I nominate:

I’m not following many blogs at the moment, so I don’t have 15, but those are the ones I am currently following. Feel free to decline the offer to participate.

Thanks again, Analee! I feel so special! xD
