I’m still plugging away at the eighth book in The Hollows series, Black Magic Sanction, by Kim Harrison. I’m a little more than halfway through and it’s turning out to be another great installment to the series. So many things happen in every book, yet it’s not overwhelming. Well, at least not to me. I feel like a lot of it has to do with the story behind the story, if that makes sense? You know, every book in a series has a main plot, yet certain events in each book lead up to the overall plot of the entire series. And let me tell you, there’s a lot going on in this series! But in a good way. Plus all of the characters are amazing; both new and old. Anyway, rambling. On to the teaser!

Pierce’s smile faded, and he eyed me from around the loose curls hanging in his eyes. “You’re going to get me in trouble with Al,” he muttered, gaze dropping.
“So? You got me in trouble with him. Teach me,” I dared him.
“I can’t,” he said as he hid behind a sip of coffee. “Only a gargoyle can teach you how to listen to the lines, and none has the learning anymore.”

WWW Wednesdays #42 – August 24th

Yes yes, I know. It’s Thursday. But I had school all day yesterday and when I got home other things preoccupied my time, so I didn’t get a chance to post. But I didn’t want to go yet another week without posting. I’m hoping in the future I’ll be a bit better about posting on my school days…^^;

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What am I currently reading?

I’m currently continuing with Kim Harrison’s The Hollows series by reading the eighth book, Black Magic Sanction. My reading has been a bit on the slow side now that school has started up. Plus, I’ve been watching a lot of anime recently. A LOT. But after starting up this book I’m hoping I’ll be able to finish it quicker than what it’s taken me to read previous books. I’ll say it once more, but I get into weird bouts of having to be in a certain mood to read something. I’ll read it for a bit then be in the mood to read something else. My comics have been piling up as well, so I’ve been slowly working through them too…so much to read.

What did I recently finish reading?

8755776I finally managed to finish the fifth book in The Mortal Instruments series, City of Lost Souls, by Cassandra Clare. I don’t know why this one took me so long to read…I guess I just kept getting preoccupied with other things. As I mentioned above, I’m a mood reader so I suppose other things just caught my interests a bit more while I was working through this one. It was a good installment, but I actually liked the previous book a bit better. As always, I’m looking forward to reading the next and final book in the TMI series.
Alrighty, so in my last WWW post I mentioned that I’ve been getting into some MxM romance recently. I don’t r22267616emember exactly how I came across this title, but the synopsis interested me. Hell & High Water is the first book in the THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet. And it was awesome. The world building was extremely well-thought out, the characters amazing and intriguing, the humor hilarious, and the action…actiony? (That’s a word now.) I have my moments, but I’ve never been into fluffy romance novels. That’s why any romance I read usually has a good plot behind it as well as fantastic characters. This book had both. Can’t wait to read the next in the series!

What do I think I’ll read next?

875578522517659Eventually, I’ll get around to starting the sixth and final book in Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments series, City of Heavenly Fire. I’m also planning on continuing the THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet with the second book, Blood & Thunder.

I’ve been finally catching up on the fifth book in The Mortal Instruments series, City of Lost Souls, by Cassandra Clare. I’ll most likely be finishing it up this week, next at the latest.

My teaser:

Explosions of color and light burst like cherry bombs throughout the room, nothing like the artificial light upstairs – these were beautiful, sparkling like fireworks, and every time one burst, it rained down a glittering shimmer onto the dancing crowd below. Huge marble fountains sprayed sparkling water; black rose petals drifted onto the surface. And far above everything, dangling down above the packed floor of dancers on a long golden cord, was a massive chandelier made of bones.

Yes yes, I’m still working on reading the fifth book in The Mortal Instruments series, City of Lost Souls, by Cassandra Clare. This one was put on the back burner for awhile due to my interest straying a bit. But I’m back to focusing on this book alone, so I’m hoping to finish it up by next week.  Well, I say that, but this time I’m really going to try! It may possibly be the week after though…I’m just trying to be honest.

What did I recently finish reading?

24468673Okay, so I’ve been getting more into MxM romance recently and happened to stumble upon a book that I absolutely fell in love with. That book would be the first book in the Tales From Verania series, The Lightening-Struck Heart, by T.J. Klune. Oh my gawd, this book. It was one of the funniest books I’ve read in quite some time. Just, the humor, man. So much humor. And the characters! THE CHARACTERS! I loved them all. Seriously, I cannot recommend this book enough. Now, I know MxM romance isn’t for everyone, but if you’ve read some or are interested do give this one a try! The humor can be a bit crude for some people and there is some sexual content, but don’t keep that from giving it a go if you’re interested! At least go read the synopsis! That’s what got me hooked. 29233804And so after reading the book above, I naturally looked for others by the same author. Another book by T.J. Klune that I finished in the past few weeks is Wolfsong. This one actually just came out in June. Just like his other book, the characters were fantastic. This one had its humorous moments as well, but was definitely more on the emotional side of things. I teared up multiple times – although that doesn’t necessarily mean anything because I’m a big baby when it comes to books and White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, #7)movies…^^; But either way, it was another great read and I’ll be continually searching for more books by this fabulous author. And finally, last night…or technically this morning, I finished reading the seventh book in The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, White Witch, Black Curse. I’ve enjoyed every book in this series so far and I hope I continue to do so as I keep plugging away at it!

What do I think I’ll read next?

87557856547188After I finish City of Lost Souls, I’ll be reading the sixth and final book in Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments series, City of Heavenly Fire. I also look forward to reading the eighth book in The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, Black Magic Sanction.

I’m still working on The Hollows series by Kim Harrison with the seventh book,White Witch, Black Curse. I’ve been reading this one for awhile, mostly because others had it on hold and I didn’t finish it soon enough. I put the e-book on hold when it was automatically returned, but there were four other people in line and only one copy. Deciding it would just be easier getting the physical copy, I did that and got back into reading it when I went on vacation. I’ll most likely be finishing this one up tonight or tomorrow. Then I’ll finally get back to reading City of Lost Souls, since I haven’t touched that one in awhile either.

My teaser:

White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, #7)

Hands on his hips, Jenks got an unusually bitter look on his face as he landed by my scrying mirror on the center island counter. “Maybe you should offer him a bite of something else? Bet he’
d give you the freaking year off.”
“Jenks!” Ivy snapped, and the pixy turned his back on us to look out the dark window.

So yeah…(Part 2)

Once again I’m making a quick post to explain why I’ve been absent for awhile. I know a lot of bloggers feel like it’s not necessary to apologize for taking a small hiatus, but a lot has been going down and I just thought it would be nice to get a little more personal with you guys, since I don’t very often. Anyway, if you’ve read a couple of my last posts I believe I mentioned that I was taking an online class. Well, I finished that up and naturally thought I would have more time to be more active with my blogging once I was finished. But I was wrong. Obviously.

The main reason I haven’t had any time to do anything is my family has been trying to sell our house since the spring and we finally got a bite. Due to certain circumstances, we didn’t have very much time to move out. Three weeks, to be exact. A little less, even. So we had three weeks to move everything out and between that and work, as usual, I had absolutely no free time. But we did it. And then hopped on a plane to go visit some family for a week. I just got back yesterday and now have three weeks until the fall semester starts.

I’m not sure how much I’ve talked about school, but after taking a three year break I’m finally returning to get my bachelor’s degree. I’m excited, yet dreading it. I haven’ taken a math class in…four years? And now I’m jumping right into Brief Calculus. Yippee. I’m just glad I already have my associates. Otherwise I feel like I’d be in even more trouble. Either way, I’m planning on keeping both jobs and going to school so my schedule will be a bit sketchy for awhile, but I’ll do my best to at least do my weekly memes. Although, I’ve been meaning to be better about reviews as well. I actually won a Goodreads giveaway a couple weeks ago and once I get around to reading that book I will definitely post a review.

But yeah, that about sums up what’s been going on with me for the past month. I’ll need to sit down and catch up on everyone else’s posts as well. Plus I believe I was tagged in a few things…

Once again, thanks for listening to me ramble on~! Happy reading! :)
